Additional Information
The rebuilding of the property in Kirkgate and North's Yard, replaced an old house and allowed William North to utilise his leasehold property to the full, whilst improving the area and the frontage to lower Kirkgate.
North's Yard extended from Kirkgate to Castlegate. The new double fronted Foresters Arms Inn has its principal elevation to Kirkgate. This improvement follows the building of the Oxford Hotel at the junction of Kirkgate and Castlegate (See Deposited Plan 877 August 1880), another step towards widening and regulating the thorouoghfares leading into the town.
