The plans provide for the building of two houses on the eastern side of the yard of Lockwood & Keighley's Upperhead Mills and fronting on to Upperhead Row and Henry Street. What appears to be a substantial double-fronted residence, is divided into two two-up and two-down houses, one entered fro Upperhead Row, the other from Henry Street. Adjacent to the Henry Street property are the gates leading into Lockwood & Keighley's Yard. The western gate pier is linked to a single storey storeroom, which forms part of the same application. Lockwood & Keighleys's are listed in directories of the period as woollen and bedford cord manufacturers. The site has a long history and there are numerous references in Alan Brooke's Catalogue of local textile mills (See Upperhead Mill, Number 334).
