Additional Information

The conversion involves opening up load bearing two walls and supporting their weight on steel beams ; breaking through three openings; building two staircases; and the erection of a balcony four feet wide, carried on cast iron brackets with wooden joists, to run around the main hall on three sides.

The main hall,in the centre and at right angles, was 30 feet wide by 86 feet 6 inches long was to have a new maple floor. In the wing to the north, a small rink 18 feet 6inches wide by 48 feet 6 inches long, with a new maple floor. In the same wing, a kitchen was to be provided. The south wing had toilet accommodation and separate rooms for men and women. A 56 foot long single storey conservatory, part of the original building, provided a grand entrance from Clare Hill.
