Additional Information
The plans provide for the re-building of the Ship Inn, replacing the existing structure with a two storey building in brick with stone facing, Westmoreland slate roof, concrete ground floor and part basement for cellarage. The existing Ship Inn appears to have had a traditional layout with Bar, Snug, Tap Room and Concert Room. The replacement public house was planned around a central bar from which several rooms could be served. The plan made greater use of the site which occupied the junction of Ramsden Street and Bradley Street. With no fewer than five bedrooms on the first floor, the Ship Inn provided residentail accommodation.
