Additional Information
The appliacrions relate to Billingtons' Pawnbrokers which occupied part of the site now occupied by Oldgate House. As was usual with this type od business, there were two entrances; in this case one from Kirkgate (Oldgate) to the retail shop with its dispay windows, and a second to the pledge counter from the passage running between Kirkgate (Oldgate) and Venn Street
.
The plans include an elevation to the passage, but not to Kirkgate. The latter presumably remained unchanged.
One of the contractor's workmen, who signed a building inspection note was B. Higgins.
