The plans are for a single storey stable with stalls for nine horses, with a harness room; and an adjoining open carriage and cart shed. The stable 60 feet x 17 feet are to be built against the southern boundary of the yard behind the Sun Inn and the adjoining Copley's shop with frontages on Cross Church Street. At right angles to the stables, and at the rear of the property, the open shed is 28 feet x 18 feet. The yard which these buildings enclosing is to have new setts. It is described as a Sale Yard on the plans. The yard is accessible from covered passages from Cross Church Strteet and the access road at the rear of trhe property. The Sun Inn adjoined the larger White Lion on the eastern side of Cross Church Street. The Sun Inn, was later to be re-constructed by Willie Cooper, and stil stands. The Stables and other outbuildings have disappeared under the Kingsgate development.
