Additional Information

The plans allow for the replacement of the existing arrangement with large plate glass windows, central double doors recessed behind the frontage. Thin wooden glazing bands and tracery are employed between the large window panes.

It appears that the two shops with separate entrances and small windows are being made into one large store.

Numbers 33 and 35 are listed in the 1879 Huddersfield Directory as being on the east side of New Street, between Greeenwood's Yard and Victoria Buildings; 33 being occupied by George Whitehead & Sons, printers; number 35 by John Bottomley Littlewood, merchant tailor.
