Mid C19. Hammer-dressed stone. Ashlar dressings. Pitched slate roof. 2 storeys and attics. 2 gables with elaborate cast iron finials. Right hand gable has 2-storey canted bay: parapet ornamented with quatrefoils. Ground floor has segment-headed sashes; 1st floor Caernarvon-arched sashes; 2nd floor cusped sashes with hoodmoulds. Elaborately sculpted porch with segment-headed arches on polished granite columns (20th C Addition): elaborate cast-iron balustrade.

The house was called Hyde Vila by 1879. The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson was published in 1886. The house was later known as Lyndene.
