Additional Information

The lessees of the Buxton House Inn took the opportunity afforded by the building of the new Town Hall and the creation of Corporation Street, to put forward plans to re-shape the Buxton Road frontage of the Buxton House Inn and extend the house towards the Town Hall. The new elevation shows a five bay three storey building over a basement storey. This contains on the ground floor, two shop fronts which mirror one another either side of a passageway closed by wrought metal gates. One of the shop fronts is to the vaults of the house, the other serves as a pork butcher's shop window. Above the Bar Parlour and Vaults on the first floor space is allocated to a Lodge or Music Room. There are offices on the second floor.

The proposed extensions stretching down to Corporation Street are of two storeys only. The accommodation behind the pork butchers is for a warehouse.

The plans are well-drawn.
