Additional Information

The plans are for alterations to the builder's yard behind Arches 1, 2 and 3 in Viaduct Street. Messrs Stead & Kaye had an office under Arch No. 1 with an entrance under the arch into the yard beyond. The plans show a number of single storey buildings on two sides of the roughly triangular yard. A long open lean-to shed for dressing stone stands against one wall of the yard; on the other, a boiler house, engine house, mortar mill, and coal store.
