This is a new shop front making use of the current plate glass technology allowing a large windows for display. and follows the insertion of a new shop front by Freeman Hardy & Willis in the adjacent property. The plans show a double fronted shop front with recessed glazed door. The three storey building, dating from the early 19th century is listed and currently houses Coral . In Nicholson's time, the upper floors of the building contained living acommodation. This new shop front does not survive.
Nicholsons were hosiers and glovers. According to the 1884 Directory, the next door property was occupied by Afred Smith, jeweller, watch,aker & silversmith.
